Some friendships last for a semester. Others become part of your entire student life.
A jaarclub is a close-knit group of students who started their studies in the same academic year. Together, you create your own identity, build traditions and share unforgettable moments throughout your studies, and often long after graduation.
What is a jaarclub?
Jaarclubs are a well-known tradition within Dutch student associations. Unlike a committee, a jaarclub does not have a specific task or responsibility. It is all about bringing together a group of friends who want to make the most of their student years.
Every jaarclub is unique. Your group chooses its own name, creates its own identity and decides how often you meet. You could organise dinners, attend Aurelius events together, plan trips, celebrate milestones or simply enjoy spontaneous evenings with your favourite people.
There is no fixed format—you decide what your jaarclub becomes.

How do you get started?
Start by bringing together students from your year who connect well and would like to form a group. Once you have found your people, you can choose a name, create your own identity and organise your first activity together.
You do not need to have everything figured out straight away. Still looking for people or unsure where to begin? Aurelius is happy to help you take the first step.
